Side-By-Side: Justice

For Day 29 of Side by Side, I drew Justice. The key themes for this card are KARMA and TRUTH. On the right, Lady Justice holds a sword and a set of scales. She sits on a throne between two columns, a drape obscures the background. On the left, Lady Justice is a statue, frozen mid-stride. She holds an upraised sword and a set of scales, but the scales may not be balanced. Surrounding her are representatives of California’s Indigenous people who have been denied fairness or balance. It is up to us to balance the scales.
